some degree of corruption is inevitable, you can't avoid it. 1-2 hours stable is probably passable for regular users, though some people don't feel comfortable until a whole week has passed. are my components all performing more or less how they should be?Ĭpu/gpu: passmark performancetest for numbers, prime95's "in place large fft" test for cpu/integrated memory controller stability. are my temperatures around where they should be for my cooling solutions? is my processor hitting its expected clocks during heavy loads? did i set an XMP profile for my memory in the BIOS? what's more important i think is being sure you have set everything up properly. otherwise you should just be able to boot into a game and say "cool i'm getting the expected framerate" and all that. If you want testing that actually gives you a usable answer then it can be pretty involved. It's good for a quick glance on system optimization. Links that contain many of the benchmarks.īTW - I don't consider userbenchmark as a legit benchmark and I'm not aware of any professionals referring to it. I've had 2 mild game crashes related to my fios connection). I run Prime95 FFTs for a 24 hour stability and terminal temp test (I have not had a single system crash since building pc in November 2019. I most likely run at least one type of benchmark a week after initial testing. There rest, I have used within the past month or so. Of the list above, I probably haven't yet used anvils's storage utilities, furmark, memtest86, and Sisoft Sandra. Prime95 – CPU stress/stability test (smallest FFTs)ĪIDA64 – Comprehensive stress/stability test (Note: run fpu only for thermals) (Comprehensive from above has disk benchmarks sections as well) Unigine Superposition – GPU Benchmark/stress testĬinebench R15 – OpenGL, Single, Multicore benchmarkģDMark Fire Strike - DirectX 11 benchmark Unigine Heaven – GPU Benchmark/stress test MSI Afterburner – Overclock, benchmark, monitor tool It is a good tool to test thermals or maybe VRAM but defiantly not core clock HDD/SSD > I prefer to not buy used ones but if I have to I use CrystalDiskInfo and CrystalDiskMarkįurmark is bad for stresstesting, because GPUs downclock themselves way too much, some start downclocking at 50c (Pascal cards). However, if you do not want to pay for such tool you can use Memtest from HCI, the 86 one in my experience does not find all the errors. My favorite tool is Karhu Ram Test, which is a paid program. You can stresstest your RAM for days and still have unstable RAM. RAM > This one is tricky and is not easy to stresstest, you have to be patient. If you do not want or have the time to play games I prefer Unigene Superposition over any other utility. There are probably other games but so far I am happy with testing these two games. GPU > In my experience gaming is the best way to find out if a GPU is stable or not, sensitive games like Overwatch (training mode is enough) or CoD modern warfare will usually only last about 5-10 minutes before closing and saying device not found or something similar. Hi, I have built a few PCs so far using both new and old/second hand parts and it is always a good practice to test each part individually.ĬPU > Prime95 or OCCT for at least an hour, some people may say that this is an overkill or that it is unrealistic amount of load, but that's the whole idea of stresstesting.
